Uzbekistan Airways has announced the launch of direct flights from Tashkent to Goa starting October 27, 2024. The new route will operate twice weekly, utilizing an Airbus A320 Neo aircraft, and connect Tashkent to Manohar International Airport in Mopa. This initiative is aimed at boosting tourism and fostering cultural exchanges between Uzbekistan and India.
The decision to commence direct flights follows collaborative efforts between the Uzbek and Indian embassies, as well as ongoing dialogue with tour operators. Uzbekistan Airways joins other airlines like TUI and Aeroflot in shifting their charter operations to Manohar International Airport, enhancing Goa’s accessibility to international travelers.
Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte hailed the new route as a “significant milestone” for Goa’s connectivity with Central Asia. He emphasized that this new flight service would not only increase tourist arrivals from Uzbekistan but also strengthen cultural ties between the two regions. “The government is committed to developing Goa into a well-connected and accessible destination for travelers worldwide,” Khaunte stated.
By establishing a direct link between Tashkent and Goa, Uzbekistan Airways aims to attract more charter tourists and facilitate easier travel between the two destinations. The airline’s new route is expected to create opportunities for mutual economic and cultural growth, benefiting both Uzbekistan and India.
The introduction of these flights marks a step forward in positioning Goa as a prominent international destination. The support of both embassies and consistent efforts from tour operators have been pivotal in bringing this plan to fruition, underlining a shared commitment to strengthening bilateral ties through tourism and cultural engagement.
