The Uttar Pradesh government is set to introduce specialized heritage walks across key tourist destinations to offer visitors a deeper cultural and historical experience. This initiative will highlight the state’s rich heritage through immersive, themed walking tours in cities such as Lucknow, Varanasi, Agra, and Bhadohi.
The project features six distinct walk categories: heritage walks, food and cuisine walks, handicrafts walks, eco-tourism walks, bird-watching walks, and customized historical walks. Tourists in Lucknow can explore architectural marvels like the Bada Imambara, Rumi Darwaza, and the British Residency. Varanasi’s historic Ramnagar Fort and Agra’s Mughal-era wonders will also be part of the experience.
For food lovers, guided culinary tours will showcase Lucknow’s famous kebabs and sweets, while Varanasi’s renowned kachoris and desserts will be a highlight. Handicraft enthusiasts can witness the craftsmanship behind Bhadohi’s carpets, Firozabad’s glassware, and Lucknow’s Chikankari embroidery.
Eco-tourism and bird-watching walks will take travelers through lush reserves like Dudhwa National Park and Nawabganj Bird Sanctuary. The tourism department is working with local operators to facilitate bookings, ensuring seamless access to these unique experiences.
This initiative is expected to enhance tourism by offering a deeper, more engaging way to explore Uttar Pradesh’s diverse cultural and natural heritage.
