The Lodge at Wah, Palampur: Luxe tea garden getaway

August 22, 2024

Set within a sprawling tea estate in the scenic Kangra Valley, The Lodge at Wah is an exclusive retreat that draws on the region’s rich cultural and architectural traditions.

Designed as a natural, eco-friendly home, the lodge’s Himachali architecture is crafted from locally sourced materials like mud, stone and wood to blend seamlessly into the natural surroundings. Slate roofs are inspired by the ‘gaddi’ tribe homes and adjusted to prevent water leakage and to look symmetrical and complete from all angles. The river stones and slates are hand chiseled and crafted in the local Kangra method.

Interiors sport earthy tones, handcrafted wooden furniture, and large windows for wide-angled views of the tea gardens and Dhauladhar mountains. Each of the five suites feature spacious living areas, cozy fireplaces, and private verandas where guests can enjoy their morning tea while soaking in the tranquility of the estate.

Dining at The Lodge is a gastronomic journey powered by fresh, organic, and locally sourced ingredients. The property’s commitment to sustainability is evident in every dish, from traditional Himachali recipes to international cuisine, all prepared with an emphasis on freshness, purity and authenticity. Guests can dine in the main lodge, surrounded by the lush greenery of the tea gardens, or opt for a private, intimate meal under the stars.

Beyond the luxurious accommodations and gourmet dining, The Lodge at Wah offers a range of activities designed to immerse guests in the local culture and environment. From guided tours of the tea plantation to tea-tasting sessions, nature walks, and visits to nearby cultural landmarks like the Baijnath Temple and Andretta Artist’s Village, every experience is crafted to connect guests with the land and its heritage.
