Indian Hotels Company (IHCL) has announced the signing of a new Taj-branded hotel in Chikkamagaluru, Karnataka. This greenfield project is part of IHCL’s strategy to promote lesser-known leisure destinations across India. The new property, Taj Chikkamagaluru, will be developed in partnership with Arnaytive Resorts.
Suma Venkatesh, Executive Vice President of Real Estate and Development at IHCL, highlighted the potential of Chikkamagaluru, known for its rainforests and coffee estates, to become a world-class destination. She emphasized the project’s alignment with IHCL’s goal of placing lesser-explored locations like Chikkamagaluru on the global tourism map.
The Taj Chikkamagaluru will span 25 acres and offer 160 luxury rooms, surrounded by the scenic beauty of coffee estates and the Mullayanagiri Peak. Located just a 20-minute drive from the city center, the hotel will feature multiple dining options, including an all-day restaurant, a specialty restaurant, a bar, and a poolside bar. Guests will have access to two swimming pools, a fitness center, J Wellness Circle spa, a kids’ club, and a library. The hotel will also cater to business travelers with large meeting and banquet spaces totaling over 5,000 square feet.
VP Kiran, Co-founder of Arnaytive Resorts, expressed excitement about partnering with IHCL to bring the Taj brand to Chikkamagaluru, recognizing the region’s untapped potential as a picturesque getaway.
Chikkamagaluru, nestled in the Western Ghats, is renowned for its coffee plantations, trekking trails, and natural beauty, including waterfalls and the Bhadra Wildlife Sanctuary. With this new addition, IHCL will have 24 properties in Karnataka, nine of which are currently under development.
