Kerala’s scenic coastal town of Varkala is all set to host the second edition of the International Surfing Festival from April 10 to 13 at Edava Beach. Organized by the Kerala Adventure Tourism Promotion Society (KATPS) along with the Thiruvananthapuram District Tourism Promotion Council (DTPC), the festival aims to cement Varkala’s place on the global surfing map.
The four-day event will see around 60 participants from across India and abroad competing in various surfing categories including Stand Up Paddling (SUP) Technical Race, Paddle Board Technical Race, and SUP Surfing. Competitions will take place across different divisions like National and International Open categories for men and women, and Groms (under-16) for boys and girls. Winners will receive cash prizes of ₹2 lakh in each category.
Adding to the excitement, the festival will offer free surfing sessions worth ₹1 lakh to 50 lucky participants, targeting a wide range of enthusiasts including students, professionals, content creators, and influencers.
Tourism Minister P.A. Mohamed Riyas highlighted the importance of this festival in boosting adventure tourism. With its iconic cliffs, vibrant beach culture, and growing community of surfers and coaches, Varkala is ready to welcome the world to its waves.
