August 13, 2024

The Pushkar Fair, locally known as Pushkar Mela, is an annual five-day event held in the town of Pushkar between October and November. Renowned as one of the largest cattle fairs globally, it features not only livestock trading but also a variety of tourist attractions. Popular competitions like the ‘matka phod,’ ‘longest moustache,’ and ‘bridal competition’ draw thousands of visitors each year. In recent years, the fair has expanded to include an exhibition football match between the local Pushkar Club and a team of foreign tourists, further enhancing its appeal as a vibrant cultural celebration. The fair also offers a glimpse into Rajasthani culture through traditional music, dance performances, and local handicrafts. Stalls selling colourful textiles, jewellery, and handicrafts create a lively marketplace atmosphere, making it a must-visit event for travellers seeking an authentic experience.
