Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has released five more cheetahs into the wild at Kuno National Park, furthering India’s ambitious Cheetah reintroduction program. This follows the earlier release of two Cheetahs, Agni and Vayu, bringing the total number of free-ranging Cheetahs in the park to seven. The initiative is part of a long-term conservation effort to establish a thriving cheetah population in India. The reintroduction project began with translocating eight Cheetahs from Namibia, followed by additional Cheetahs from South Africa. With 11 adult Cheetahs and four cubs still in enclosures, the phased release into the wild continues to be carefully monitored. Conservationists hope this effort will restore ecological balance and boost regional wildlife tourism.
