December 2, 2024

In a significant boost to regional connectivity, Air India Express has launched daily direct flights from Sri Vijaya Puram (Port Blair) to Bengaluru and Kolkata. This new service strengthens travel options for passengers commuting between the Andaman and Nicobar Islands and mainland India, ensuring convenience and shorter travel times.

Additionally, starting January 1, 2025, Air India Express will launch services to Chennai, further improving connectivity from Sri Vijaya Puram. This new route will offer greater convenience for travelers to and from Tamil Nadu’s capital.

The Kolkata route will also see an increase in frequency, with Air India Express introducing twice-daily flights starting December 15, 2024. This will provide passengers with more flexibility in their travel schedules and greater access to one of India’s key commercial hubs.

These direct flights and expanded services are expected to play a pivotal role in boosting tourism to the picturesque Andaman Islands, known for their pristine beaches, rich marine biodiversity, and unique cultural heritage. Additionally, they provide enhanced connectivity for business travelers and residents seeking faster links to the mainland.
