Airbus Operations Begin at Rajahmundry Airport, Andhra Pradesh

December 2, 2024

Rajahmundry Airport, located in Andhra Pradesh, has marked a new chapter in its development by commencing operations for Airbus aircraft. This upgrade enables the airport to handle larger planes like the Airbus A321 and Boeing 377, significantly enhancing its passenger and cargo handling capabilities.

Once completed, the airport will boast dual terminals, allowing for smoother passenger traffic and a total capacity of over 2,000 passengers at peak times.

With its upgraded 3,165-meter-long runway—one of the longest in the region—Rajahmundry Airport is now on par with major facilities like Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi International Airport. The new Airbus operations, coupled with upcoming direct flights to cities like Delhi, are expected to significantly boost connectivity and the local economy in Andhra Pradesh.
