Six Senses Fort Barwara: Royal Splendour

October 8, 2024

Six Senses Fort Barwara, located in the picturesque Chauth Ka Barwara village near Ranthambhore, Rajasthan, is an exquisite 14th-century luxury resort spread over 5.5 acres and framed by the majestic Aravalli ranges. After a decade of careful restoration led by conservation architect Parul Zaveri and her late husband, Nimish Patel, the property has emerged as India’s first Six Senses spa resort and one of the most exclusive destinations for discerning travellers.

Six Senses Fort Barwara retains the fort’s original essence with the layout, building styles, and materials that respect the unique aesthetics of its past. One of the most inventive elements is the wide collonaded corridors with traditional flooring in a chevron/leheriya pattern, using a combination of white marble, Dholpur beige and Kandla red stone parapets.

With its imposing five-foot-thick walls, Mardana Mahal now serves as a welcoming reception area. The Zanana Mahal has become a spa with exquisite relief motifs and Shekhawati frescoes. Two temples on the site have been retained with their original sanctum sanctorums. From the grand banquet hall and all-day dining area to the stepwell theatre and 48 opulent suites, every space is a nod to the fort’s historical legacy. The Aravali View suites have breathtaking terraces and outdoor showers. For the ultimate indulgence, book the turret-set Raja Man Singh Suite for its outdoor dining pavilion and private pool.

Guests can be busy all weekend with bespoke dining experiences celebrating local flavours, rejuvenating wellness treatments, and deep dive into the fort’s rich cultural heritage. Six Senses Fort Barwara is a remarkable destination where history, luxury, and nature harmoniously coexist, creating an unforgettable retreat.
