Kailash Mansarovar Yatra to Resume on June 30

April 24, 2025

After a five-year suspension, the revered Kailash Mansarovar Yatra is set to recommence on June 30, 2025. The pilgrimage, halted since 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic and subsequent diplomatic challenges, will now proceed through the Lipulekh Pass in Uttarakhand’s Pithoragarh district.

In a collaborative effort between the Indian Ministry of External Affairs and the Uttarakhand government, the Kumaon Mandal Vikas Nigam has been entrusted with organizing the Yatra. This year, 250 pilgrims will participate, divided into five groups of 50. Each group will embark on a 22-day journey, starting from Delhi and traversing key locations including Tanakpur, Dharchula, Gunji, and Nabhidang before entering Tibet via the Lipulekh Pass. The return route includes stops in Bundi, Chaukori, and Almora.

Pilgrims will undergo comprehensive health screenings in Delhi and Gunji to ensure their fitness for the high-altitude trek. Mount Kailash and Lake Mansarovar, situated in Tibet, hold profound spiritual significance for Hindus, Buddhists, and Jains. The resumption of the Yatra not only fulfills the spiritual aspirations of devotees worldwide but also symbolizes a step forward in India-China diplomatic relations.
