Tawang Deputy Commissioner Kanki Darang has issued a public safety advisory to tourists planning to visit high-altitude destinations in Arunachal Pradesh during the winter season. The advisory emphasizes precautionary measures in light of extreme weather conditions and potential hazards.
Travelers heading to popular spots like Bumla Pass, Shongetser Lake, PT Tso, and Sela Pass are urged to check updated weather forecasts and road conditions before starting their journey. Tourists are advised to avoid traveling during heavy snowfall and ensure their vehicles are equipped with non-skid chains to prevent accidents on snow-covered roads.
The advisory highlights the risks of prolonged exposure to low temperatures and advises individuals with high-altitude sickness or related health issues to refrain from visiting high-altitude areas. Tourists are encouraged to pack sufficient warm clothing, emergency kits, and communication devices to handle unforeseen situations.
Stepping onto frozen lakes has been strictly prohibited due to the instability of ice surfaces, which may not support human weight. In emergencies, tourists are urged to follow the guidance of local authorities, tour operators, and rescue teams.
Authorities responsible for issuing Inner Line Permits (ILPs) in Delhi, Kolkata, Guwahati, Tezpur, and Bhalukpong have been asked to educate tourists about these safety guidelines.
